Service Description

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is an evidence-based regenerative treatment used to support hair growth, improve hair density and enhance overall scalp health. PRP is derived from your own blood and contains a high concentration of growth factors that stimulate hair follicles and improve the scalp environment. At The Nurse Practitioner Clinic, PRP hair treatments are performed by an NMC-registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner, using medical-grade systems and strict infection control standards. What PRP hair treatment can help with Early-stage hair thinning Androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss) Diffuse shedding Reduced hair density Weak or miniaturised hair follicles Postpartum or stress-related hair loss (where clinically appropriate) PRP is most effective in early to moderate hair loss, where follicles are still active. How the treatment works A small blood sample is taken and processed using a medical centrifuge to isolate platelet-rich plasma. This plasma is then injected into the scalp. PRP works by: Delivering concentrated growth factors to hair follicles Stimulating follicular stem cells Improving blood supply and oxygenation to the scalp Prolonging the growth (anagen) phase of the hair cycle Supporting thicker, stronger hair growth over time Because PRP uses your own blood, it is biocompatible and carries a very low risk of allergic reaction. Recommended treatment plan A course is required for optimal results: 3–4 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart Maintenance treatments every 6–12 months, depending on response Results are gradual and typically become noticeable after 3–4 months Downtime Minimal: Mild redness or tenderness of the scalp for 24–48 hours Small injection marks Most clients resume normal activities the same day Pain level Low to moderate. Topical anaesthetic can be applied to improve comfort. Appointment duration Approximately 45–60 minutes. Who is suitable Adults with early or moderate hair thinning Men and women seeking a non-surgical hair restoration option Clients wishing to use PRP alongside medical hair loss treatments (e.g. topical therapies) Suitable for most skin and hair types A full consultation is required to assess hair loss pattern, expectations and clinical suitability. Price £250 for early-stage hair loss limited to within 1cm of the hairline (excluding the crown). Most clients require treatment beyond this area and the typical cost is £325.
